SNOW DROP EVENT AT WOODVILLE WALLED GARDEN

by / Saturday, 08 February 2014 / Published in heritage, Lady Gregory, Lifestyle, Uncategorized

Even though the weather was rainy and windy the Snow drop event at Woodville Walled Garden was a great success today. The main speaker from Waterford was Paddy Tobin who gave a very entertaining and informative talk on snow drop varieities, especially Irish ones which grow best here. There was a extensive variety of plants for sale and of course snow drops . A wonderful lunch was prepared by the Woodville garden volunteers, who meet at the garden every Wednesday. This is an annual event and for anyone who loves gardens I can highly recommend it as a special day out in February. I was especially delighted to find that two of my companions at the Lunch table were David Shaw Smith and his wife, who together produced the “Hands” programme about traditional hand crafts in Ireland on R.T.E. television some years ago.
